Tech News of the week (Fifth week of March 2024): Ahead of the September launch, iPhone 16 3D models have surfaced online, revealing the design of upcoming iPhones, and Google is shutting down yet another service.

Tech News of the Week in India: The iPhone 16 series will have a minor design overhaul, especially in terms of camera placement, suggests the latest leaks, and Google is shutting down its Podcasts app and suggesting users migrate to YouTube Music.

    Apple iPhone 16 to include iPhone X-like camera island

    The first set of iPhone 16 series 3D models suggests that Apple will revamp the camera island on the base model from a diagonally placed camera system to a vertically placed camera system, similar to the iPhone X. On top of that, the baseline iPhone 16 is also speculated to include an Action Button, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro series along with a new capacitive “Capture Button.”

    Google is shutting down Podcasts app

    Google has officially confirmed that it is shutting down the Podcasts app on April 2, and the company is recommending existing users migrate to YouTube Music or a service of their choice, with an option to download OPML files to migrate shows and subscriptions to the alternative platform. Google is also introducing new podcast-related features within the YouTube Music app, which will be promoted as a single music/audio app by Google in the coming days.

    OpenAI announces text-to-audio generative AI model

    OpenAI on Friday previewed its latest generative AI model named “Voice Generation” which can mimic any voice with just a 15-second audio sample. This AI model is currently available for select users, and the company is currently considering various options and parameters before launching it to the general public.

    Galaxy AI rolls out to more devices

    Samsung has rolled out the OneUI 6.1 update to previous generation Galaxy S series flagships and the Galaxy Z series foldable to introduce the Galaxy AI features. The company first unveiled the Galaxy AI features with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones back in February, and the headline features are now made available for more smartphones, including foldable devices and the Galaxy Tab S9 series of tablets.
